Wouldn’t it be great if, at any given moment, you could throw together at home a yummy little appetizer or meal without another trip to the grocery store? (I swear, I’m there at least every other day!)
Well, hey, it’s possible, says my friend Tracy, who posted on Facebook a list of essentials to accompany whatever fresh produce and meat/fish you have on hand. Now, it might take one start-from-scratch tip to the supermarket to stock up, but that’s OK — one big shopping spree, and you’ll save lots of time in the long-run.
The goods: Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sea salt, course ground pepper, garlic, an onion, pasta, white rice, pesto, at least 2 kinds of cheese, flour or cornstarch (for thickening), organic butter, organic chicken broth, red and white wine, some kind of pepper jam, and some good chewy bread.
Some of her pals chimed in on and added these items: Hand-dried basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, cinnamon, kosher salt, telierchiery black pepper, chili peppers, olive oil, red wine vinegar, sherry vinegar, dijon, anchovies, salty black olives, chicken broth, walnuts, roasted canned tomatoes, pickled peppers, pasta, brown rice, pinto beans, romano, cheddar, tuna in olive oil, spicy corn tortilla chips.
OK, the tortilla chips did it — I’m hungry now.
So, what’s on your list?
